Stay Safe on PinePad
PinePad helps renters and guests connect with property owners and hosts, but we do not independently verify every person, property, availability claim, or transaction. Use these steps before committing to a rental or short stay.
1. Verify the property and the person you are dealing with
For long-term rentals, inspect the property when practical. Confirm that the landlord, host, or representative is authorized to offer the property.
2. Confirm the full terms before paying
For long-term rentals, confirm rent, deposits, advance payments, minimum stay, and house rules. For short stays, confirm dates, nightly price, minimum nights, check-in and check-out details, and any additional charges.
3. Be cautious with urgent payment requests
Do not let pressure, limited-time claims, or unusually low prices rush you into sending money before you have verified the important details.
4. Use a payment method you understand
PinePad does not currently collect rental or short-stay payments. If you pay a landlord or host directly, keep clear records of the amount, recipient, purpose, and any written agreement.
5. Protect your account and personal information
Never share your PinePad password, email verification code, one-time password (OTP), or other account-security codes with a landlord, host, renter, or guest.
6. Keep important details in writing
Save messages, agreed pricing, dates, payment instructions, and other important terms so you can refer back to them if something changes.
7. Report suspicious or inaccurate listings
Use the Report Listing option on the property page to flag suspected scams, misleading information, duplicates, or listings that are no longer available.
PinePad reviews submitted listing information before publication, but review is not a guarantee. If something feels suspicious, do not proceed until you are comfortable with the property, the person you are dealing with, and the terms.
